What a container tree ERP actually records

Growth, environment, and handling, measured on a schedule. Once every tree carries its history, the database becomes the industry's missing standard.

An ERP for a factory tracks parts, machines, and orders. An ERP for container-grown trees tracks organisms, and organisms do not hold still.

The records that matter fall into three groups. Growth: trunk diameter, height, crown width, and root development, measured on a schedule rather than when someone happens to look. Environment: substrate composition and moisture, irrigation and fertilization events, temperature, humidity, and light, recorded per bed or per container. Handling: every repotting, pruning, pest treatment, and move between beds, with dates. The system in registered patent KR 10-2273721 stores these together and adds two computed layers on top: a growth prediction from the growth and environment history, and an analysis of the production environment that recommends conditions for optimal output.

Two things follow that are easy to underestimate. Once growth is predicted per container, a nursery can promise a delivery size and date instead of a range, which changes how it sells. And once every tree carries its full history, the database becomes a standard, the thing the landscape tree industry has been missing: a shared definition of what a given size and grade of a given species actually is.

The open question is how little you can measure and still get the prediction right. Sensors are cheap. Attention is not.
